Richard Hempel, 53, Groesbeck Volunteer Fire-Rescue, died in the line of duty due to a medical event. With an unwavering commitment to serving his community, his EMS career began with the Lake Jackson Explorers Program at the age of 15. His life of service continued as a police officer, firefighter, and paramedic at Limestone County EMS and Groesbeck Volunteer Fire-Rescue. A man of God who loved his family more than anything, Rick will always be remembered for his integrity, servant’s heart, and endearing smile.
